Brian before his untimely death attended J. Sargeant Community College where he majored in engineering while tutoring other students in mathematics. His other accomplishments included Halala USA where he served as the secretary of Virginia Chapter and Youth Coordinator Halala USA. He was a member of Chin Ya Mti Group in New Jersey and wanted to start his own in Virginia. He was also the captain of his basketball team at Alphax College and Volunteered at Grove Avenue Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memories with his mother Rose Apeli Ballard, his sister Flora Achiko, Grandmother Florence Mungo, Uncles, Aunties, Cousins, Grandparents, In-Lawa, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Mission Statement

 The mission of the Foundation is to further the advancement of Mathematics, science and engineering in Western Kenya. The Foundation hopes to achieve its mission by providing educational materials and essential tools necessary to advance poor students from the region that excel in the subjects mentioned above.

Goals Of The Foundation

Through our education assistance program, the Foundation will strive to promote academic for all qualifying students.
Advancement of science and engineering is not limited to the Western Region of Kenya. Other schools around the country may request for assistance. Assistance will be given based on need and available resources.
The board of director’s reserves the right to decide which schools or institutions may benefit from the organization.
The Foundation assists professors and students with contacting institutions or colleagues in other countries. Students in need of internships will be assisted with making the necessary contacts. In addition, professors seeking information about institutions abroad offering research opportunities will also be aided.

Presented by - Barnabas Ochunyi – Secretary General Virginia Chapter.Great men and women of Mulembe, I salute you all in the name of the almightyGod. It’s a great pleasure with respect to be welcomed here in ChelmsfordMassachusetts for the 2008 Halala Conference.2007/2008 has been an awesome year for the Virginia chapter and we are gladto see it through. As a chapter we managed to recruit more members in theorganization and we are soon looking forward to recruit more. Everyone in theChapter has worked tirelessly to see that we succeed as a team. Our membersare more focused than ever and I am encouraged by their teamwork andmotivated by their urge to keep on going.Am pleased to see that despite of our diverse ethnic ancestry, we are making ahistory by coming together with a common mission of working together toimprove our social and cultural practices for the betterment of our descendantsand our brothers. As Kenyans we have emulated the Harambee motto and amimpressed by seeing such a congregation just come to make policies that willhave a major positive impact to the western Province of Kenya.Our ancient leaders such as Mwanga, Muwanga, Shiundu, Nabongo Mumia,Hammtalla, Namutala, Namachanja and others worked tireleslly to bring thecommunity together, my dream is to a prosperous Luhya nation that will beadmired all over the world and through Halala I believe I’ll see my dream walkingand talking.As a community lets work together with one accord to see success, lets fighthatred,disunity,poverty and illiteracy to achieve our common goal. Am a proudmember of the Organisation and so if you are, use your unique skills and talent tomake it work, to make our children see success, to believe in ourselves that yeswe can rock to take the mantle to the very end and not only to be used as aladders
